THE COMPANY

In 2008 Rainer Jösch released his first film "Mountain Buffalo". It was a low budget production realized by Rainer to express his values as a hunter, a guide and conservationist. It was also a quest to consider the place and rationale for hunting in modern Africa.

"Mountain Buffalo" was a success financially, but was also received with acclaim by the international hunting community. In January of 2009 "Mt Buffalo" received the top award at the film festival in Dortmund/Germany. The same year the movie was invited to a film festival in Paris. During 2009 Rainer Jösch began to consider more seriously to move into film making.  The project "Buffalo Hunters" started to evolve. In the spring of 2010 Sebastian Steinbrink joined Rainer to work on "Buffalo Hunters".

Rainer was able to hire Dirk Ruge, a highly professional and dynamic cinematographer, with whom he had worked on a smaller project previously. Dirk Ruge brought another hugely capable professional on board - Travis Ford. The first three episodes of "Buffalo Hunters" were shot in Tanzania in October and November of 2010. The production had reached a dynamic and size which needed an international base to run its affairs . The company "Hatari Productions GmbH" was finally incorporated in Germany in the spring of 2011.
